I definitely do not get out enough in the winter. The fitbit has enlightened me of that much. I seem to average between 2,000-3,500 steps a day, with one day a week over 5,000. This is only half of what I am supposed to be doing each day, 10,000+. So I do have a way to go. But, in my defense I am taking it slow, and each week improving my numbers. I have lost one pound in four weeks. Considering I am eating at least 200-400 calories less than the fitbit says I am burning; well that is a puzzlement. Am I being honest about what I put in my mouth? Yes, I think so. What good is doing this if I’m not?
So, one of the things I did to get out may seem a little off. But my genealogy bug got the better of me. I have been working on a family tree of a dear friend who not only came from this area, but generations going back. I discovered that her 3x’s great-grandparents are buried in a cemetery just up the road from where I live. How cool is that?! Well to me at least. Having a tree to research in my own backyard is pretty cool. So, as I am at a brick wall with this generation, my hope was that I might find other tombstones of relatives that might get me back another generation. So, I spent 2 hours roaming around the cemetery looking, and looking. I found a number with the same last name, but they were all spread out. I am assuming they are related (it isn’t a common name), my assumption is that there are 4 brothers. But I have no documented proof, which sucks. The search continues though. The next step will be the local library archives. That will be fun; well for me anyway 🙂
